I was saddened to hear of the death of Apple visionary Steve Jobs on 6th October 2011. Steve became CEO of Apple in 1997 just after I had first discovered the mac (I started working as a junior designer in 1994 on a Macintosh Classic) and took the company from those plastic beige boxes to the wonderfully designed and easy to use devices that we have today. There’s an excitement felt when opening a new Apple product (ah! The lovely smell!) that is unique and addictive… perhaps that is how common folk like myself will best remember Mr Jobs.

I write this small epitaph on my iMac, with my iPhone next to me very happy to have been carried into my thirties using Steve’s brilliant inventions. So long Steve, and thanks for all the gadgets…
